A Cambria County apartment building was deemed a total loss after a fire broke out in the basement Saturday afternoon, emergency officials said.
Richland Fire Chief Wes Meyers said the call came in around 12:30 p.m. for reports of a fire on the 1300 block of Frances Street.
He said the fire began in the basement and spread rapidly through the building, reaching the attic of the home.
Officials said the fire spread to the attic through the walls, causing crews to tear some siding off of the building.
Emergency officials said one tenant was home at the time of the fire and was woken up by the smoke alarms, and another tenant had just arrived home as the fire started.
Meyers said there were no injuries to any residents, but some firefighters received minor injuries, such as some cuts and smoke inhalation.
Meyers also said some firefighters went through three air tanks putting out the blaze.
Emergency officials said the cause of the fire is being investigated.
Crews from Richland, Johnstown, St. Michael, Scalp Level-Paint, Windber, Oakland and Southmont Fire all assisted at the scene.
